Joe is an accomplished executive with over 25 years’ experience working with private and public companies and building partnerships in the defense, intelligence, security, supply chain, logistics, education, and manufacturing industries with extensive international experience, particularly in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

He is the Executive Chairman of the Board of DGC International, having most recently served as the CEO. DGCI is a premier, mission-ready ISO 9001:2015 certified provider of Global Defense Solutions to the Federal Government and its partners worldwide. Joe is also the Founder and Managing Director of Slate Leadership Ventures Ltd. SLV works independently and in association with private equity partners to collaborate in planning and implementing fully integrated business and people strategies. In this capacity he holds advisory board positions with SilencerCo and Zev Technologies. Concurrently, he is the Chairman of Janus Global Services, an SLV joint venture subsidiary company and he acts as a Senior Advisor to Mill Rock Capital and as a Board Member for one of their portfolio companies; DRT Holdings.

Previously, Joe was the President, CEO and Board Director of School Specialty Inc. a publicly traded, educational products and services company where he delivered significant top and bottom-line growth while founding both their safety and security training and services subsidiary, SSI Guardian, and SOAR Life Products a non-acute healthcare products subsidiary. Prior to SSI, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Board Director of NYX Global, a global security, intelligence and logistics management and services company and as President, CEO and Board Director of Xe Services/Blackwater Worldwide, a high profile, global defense contracting company, where he successfully led various turnaround initiatives resulting in substantial top and bottom-line growth while executing a successful liquidity event.

Joe served in the U.S. Army as an enlisted man and an officer, most notably with the 75th Ranger Regiment, 10th Mountain Division and the 7th, 11th & 19th Special Forces Groups (Green Berets). He is a medically retired and decorated combat veteran.

Mr. Yorio earned a BA degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Saint Vincent College, an MS/MC in Project Management and Executive Leadership from Cornell University, S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management, and an MBA in Management/International Business from Florida Tech University, Nathan M. Bisk College of Business. Additionally, Joe serves at the University of South Florida as a Senior Fellow and Executive Education adjunct faculty member teaching the Executive Leadership Course: “LEADING WITH ACTION”.
